Choral Director
Zach Leach, DHS Choral Director
Mr. Leach comes to Danvers High School having spent the last year as the Holten Richmond Middle School General Music Teacher and Choral Director. With five years of prior teaching experience at the elementary, high school, and collegiate levels, Mr. Leach brings a broad pedagogical lens and a passion for building inclusive, engaging choral experiences. During his Masters program as a graduate assistant in Choral Conducting and Vocal Pedagogy at East Carolina University, he conducted the ECU Collegiate Choir, co-lead masterclasses for visiting high school singers, and was a section leader for the internationally recognized ECU Chamber Singers. His work also included organizing major outreach events such as the ECU High School Choir Invitational, which brings together nearly 1,000 students annually. Before obtaining his Masters at ECU, Mr. Leach taught private voice and piano, directed high school ensembles in North Carolina, leading both auditioned and non-auditioned choirs through festivals, district performances, and cross-school collaborations. Across all settings, Mr. Leach strives to create a space where students of all experience levels can grow musically, take risks, and develop as confident performers and ensemble members.
Mr. Leach considers one of his greatest strengths as an educator to be his ability to utilize a wide range of musical styles and genres. He has taught and performed across genres including classical, broadway, contemporary, a cappella, jazz, and sacred music. Mr. Leach enjoys curating diverse programs and curriculum that both challenges and excites students. Masters thesis, which explores pedagogical approaches to repertoire selection, reflects his deep interest in choosing age-appropriate, skill-building repertoire that promotes growth while sustaining student engagement. Mr. Leach has found that thoughtful programming plays a vital role in helping students feel connected, empowered, and motivated.
Mr. Leach is eager to get started as the Choral Director at Danvers High School so he can contribute to a team that not only celebrates artistry but also nurtures students' voices, both musically and personally.
